Elfheim vol. 3 #4 Night Wynd, 1992, b&w.
1 Elfheim vol. 3 #4 cover Page 1 has a brilliantly shaded Windy full page with the page boys in back of him, alive. Windblade means to challenge Greylone to a Mag war. One of the page boys is Leaf. The other three page boys leave Windy who couldn't ask them to do something this dangerous. Leaf stays with Windy, who puts his arm around him and tells him that to perish would be preferable to defeat. Nendo loves elves in torment. Greylone carves (with his fingernails—yech!) something in Kibbi's chest above his left nipple, then licks the blood and he calls forth a spell to bring Ichi to them. In the Srith caverns far away, the Srith has Turo strapped to his chest with ropes and Turo wears little else. Other elves are being tortured, some are hung by their wrists, their backs against rocks. They wear only tattered shorts and underwear. Garth finds a boy sitting crosslegged with a belt and buckle on with a candle of wax burning on his head! Garth finds out that the Srith is talking about the Srith Master——Stigg, the most powerful Srith sorcerer. Garth says, "Blimey, a lizard and a wizard." The boy begs of Mr. Rat to set him free but Garth won't do it. Garth can't——if he sets the boy free, he will have to take care of him and he already has his eyes set on the king's page boy, Turo! The Srith drips drool past Turo as he talks into a crystal ball. Turo sees the face in the ball——"Father!!!" The bald elf man says, "Turo!" The Srith says, "Oh—oh." Two of the page boys tells Hawk about leaving Windblade alone. Hawk tells them Windy is just a boy and calls Dao and Bran to take them to the deepest, darkest dungeon and to send the best torturer to them and tell him to enjoy himself till Hawk tells him to stp. The first boy begs, "What?! No...no, you... can't, for pity's sake!!" Dao says, "Sure he can. He's the king." Bran smiles, "Yea and you really pissed him off." Hawk tells Dao and Bran to meet him at Windy's tower when the boys are locked up and swears if Windy is harmed...Windy hates this part but he cuts his hand to drip blood, the only way to break through Greylone's magic shield. The bit where Windy leans over to cut his hand is magnificently rendered. Leaf calls, "Wind..gag." Traps, a tentacles with suction cups grabs Leaf and blobs over him, a giant octopus like blob slime monster! It seems to be Nendo's pet. Windy sees her, "Nendo, you cow!" Greylone says, "Now, now, Windy, don't be a bad boy." Windy looks at him, "You bastard! I'll kill you!" Greylone tells him he is the master here and this time Windblade, a fluff muffin has put his pretty little foot in it." Greylone puts his finger into Windy's mouth, "Get used to it, Windbrain, you lost! Lost big time!" Dao, Bran, and Hawk (who ALL look alike this time!) find drops of blood on the floor in Windy's tower. Hawk yells, "WINDBLADE!!"
    Backup story: "Stardusters" part 4.
Backup story first page Finn tells Turk thatTige worships the seas he sails and was hurt when he saw that exotic boy. Turk tells Finn he is the one who invited Tapiet. Turk tells him that the floating fluff boy fell on the boat and he told this to Tige. Tige and Tapiet listen to the two men who were on their way back to the lighthouse. The boys listen at the Mill's front door. Tige has found Tapiet's bag but claims it is his and that Tapiet is no extra terrestrial even if he is a weirdo wimp. Tapiet asks, "What's wrong web hands, don't speaka de English?" Tige attempts to scare Tapiet by stepping into faerie but Tapiet matches him move for move. He is not of faerie but is not poly dimensional. Tapiet talks to Tige who crosses his arms. He knew he was hurt. It was the same look he had when Rigell and BDC turned on him. Tapiet tries to explain about his stupidity in getting his friend, the worm giant, hurt. Tige starts to insult him, "Well, at last you admit you're stup..." Tapiet yells, "Trying to apologize to you was stupid! You've got a bug up your butt over what you think Turk did to you and you won't believe what anybody says not even him! Well screw you and get out of my place!" With hands on his hips, Tige asks if he his friend is going to be okay, "Ah...is...is your friend gonna be okay?" He is trying to apologize too. Tige asks how he popped in the Middle Kingdom with him. "I am an alien, Tige. And I can cross dimensions like you can. Only I do it in space most of the time," Tapiet explains. Tapiet comes from a stellar nursery, his roots that of a spaceling and he and the worm giant can change travel some dimensions, both neither all planetary nor spaceling but in between. Tige asks about the two who screwed him over. Tapiet tells him this would be too low and demeaning for them. He also says he screwed up: "I'm a book, Tige, our mission in life is collect information. Looking for information––for knowledge, is in our genes. We're little data gatherers." The guest room they are in is a photo. "We go on missions to get the information. Only sometimes we gotta go places and do things to get the info that non–books wouldn't understand. I'm not saying killing people––more like work in slums, being a vice–mite, and stuff like that. Rigell couldn't handle it. He grew to hate what I did. And because what I do is the nature of a book, he grew to hate me. When you got a planet plagued by disease and the beings are asking for info to cure the disease...well, if the answers are in the Toy System and you gotta become a muffin boy to get them..." He takes out a night shirt, drops his chain body belt off and puts it on. He kicks his boots off. He also has arm rings. "You get the tattoo and you do the muffin bit." When Tige asks what a muffin boy is, Tapiet tells him he doesn't want to know. He puts cigar in his mouth and lays on the pillow, telling him the tattoo was the last straw for his own spaceship and Rigell. BDCs have emotions and personalities. He gave them the finger and tore the Com system outta BDC and left. He ain't been back since. Tige is wearing a small bathing suit. The boys find their favorite movie is STAR WARS. They eat food (Tapiet using ketchup) and drink soda. Turk and Finn are ecologists and the have state of the art equipment in the lighthouse to monitor. Tige offers to help him but they will have to sneak to use it. Tapiet says, "Of course." The outside and some of the inside of the house are real photos.
