1 DM 1-4 cover The Black Brothers have tracked the boys to a magic shop in the village and a Director instructs them to attack tonight. They have been getting, breaking, and using kids for 20 years now and for fun. In shorts only, Yuse tells Mongoose the Black Brothers are coming after them tonight. He wears a crystal around his neck. At the fish and farmer's market Leaf and Chispo are shopping and see familiar guys. Chispo has a new haircut--shaved in back and curly and longer in front. He wears a shirt that has an upsidedown triangle with SGO on it. The boys run from them but didn't sense anything negative from the four men. An agent for the guys is named Barry and knows they are on the move. Barry has been doing errands for the NYC leader. They had to know what Streeter was doing and quietly warn off any kids around. Lady Lardly was killed a month ago. Black Brothers want the three boys so badly that they are willing to risk worldwide exposure. Yuse tells Leaf to let his mind feel the emanations. Leaf goes wild, he won't let the Black Brothers get him again. Mongoose promises to kill or die so that the Black Brothers never get them again. Yuse has on a short cut tank top and shorts. Mongoose tells them that if they can't stop some 200 slimeballs...then he doesn't deserve the war medals he has and "you three are just comic book magicians." Chispo has on the short cut shirt and he has poodles, cats, dogs, and others on his side. Leaf watches Freddie a plant make a noose, "Nice shape, Freddie." Yuse brags that his practice with the nunchaks is not magic, it is skill but he hits himself in the back of his head with both pairs. The others laugh, Chispo telling him to stick with the magic. Rance (wearing square shaped glasses) and Frank, two of the Black Brothers survey the shop. Rance says of Yuse, "What an adorable Chinese boy..." Leaf tells Yuse he will kill himself if he has to go back. Yuse tells him he will kill them first. Scotty Rat goes with Black Son, the cat, to spy on the slimes. The two men report to two men in robes. The "chink brat" spotted them, Frank reports thanks to Rance. One of the robed men says, "God, Rance, can't you keep your pants zipped just once?!?" One robed guy says, "You should talk, Mike, remember that young actor?" Mike says, "He wanted it!!" Rance shoots at Black Son. It is the witch boy's familiar. His ear gets hit. Birds and other animals surround the men and kill them except for Mike, who escapes. Mike calls Bob Streeter, East Coast leader--every pet, stray, and mongrel have attacked him. From the sewers, two alligators attack Mike, one bites his neck. In Bob's room, are jars with kids' heads floating in them. Bob orders them to attack, kill all animals and the old man and if any neighbors butt in to blow their heads off! Two Black Brothers attack but are vined to death, squeezed by the vines. Yuse kicks and punches more Black Brothers. The large gang of vigilantes hears gunfire and moves in. Leaf is grabbed from behind but a man eating plant with thorns grabs and kills the "brother" from behind. The gang arrive and help the boys. Leaf is hitting the man who fell over and over with a stick. Yuse stops him, "Leaf...he's finished." Yuse holds Leaf back, who wants to kill more of them. Yuse tells him not to let the hate destroy him. The good guys come in and Chispo remembers they are the ones that helped them get away from the Brothers in the first place. The boys ask why they are helping. The Black Brothers had them and did things to them. One says, "What didn't they do?!" Another, Oriental, says, "Jimmy, it's okay. They can't hurt you ever again..." On a field trip (?) the former students escaped and searched out other ex-students---100s. Those who weren't broken and with a will to fight were brought into the Damocles gang. More robed Brothers arrive with guns. Chispo yells, "Oh no! Not again! E-fricking-nuf!" He waves his hands and blows the red robed men into ashes after a lavender flash. He thinks he blew them into another dimension. Yuse thinks he blew them into dust bunnies. Chispo has never used violet magic before. It is powerful and he wasn't sure his human side could handle it. One blond guy tells another blond guy, Roger, that is what happened. The three men Chispo aimed at weren't the only ones...about 200 of them vanished. Another one with an aide shows up--Bob (?) Streeter--they got in through the second floor window. Streeter holds a gun on them, telling one of the Damocles (Jimmy?) gang he was going to kill him that night he escaped. Leaf calls Freddie. The vine noose goes around Streeter's neck and pulls him to death. Flying or rather levitating, Yuse chops at his accomplice. The Black Brothers have organizations throughout this hemisphere and throughout the world, a list of their schools and orphanages and members' names...powerful people, rich and famous. The gang recruit the boys and Mongooses, "Travel...faraway places...exotic sights...blood and guts...we will pay for the travel but the Black Brothers will donate the blood and guts!" The boys and Mongoose will and Black Son meows--he will too.
